Teresa “Terry” Esval 88, of Hendersonville, NC, died peacefully on January 27, 2021 at White Oak Manor Assisted Living in Tryon, NC. Teresa was born on February 25, 1932 in Ballydevitt, Donegal, Ireland to Joseph and Mary Bushe. She married the late Orland “Ed” Esval of Huntington, NY on March 2, 1957 in Montreal, Canada.
Terry is survived by her four children: Susan Esval Buss of Dallas, TX; Orland “Land” and wife, Stacy Esval of Dallas, TX; Patricia Esval Finken of Dallas, TX, and Kevin J. and wife, Audra Esval of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Other surviving family members include her sister Angela and husband, Tom Jackson of Tryon, NC. Teresa was predeceased by her loving husband in 1997.
Terry lived the immigrant dream of coming to America from humble Irish beginnings to go on to marry her beloved USAF fighter pilot after meeting in London, England. They eventually settled in North Carolina to raise their four children who she fiercely loved. Over 40 years of marriage, she and Ed built an incredible life together filled with family, friends, and travels around the world. With four kids in tow, Terry and Ed explored every ski village in Europe to finally settling on an authentic mountain village named Morgins, Switzerland. Thus the month of January was ski time for the Esval family! She never forgot her Irish heritage being born with the quintessential gift of the gab, and she truly knew no strangers. With her quick wit, Terry debated any topic, but especially loved discussing politics and the stock market. Terry was an ardent and successful investor and loved educating her family and friends of the benefits of hard work by saving, investing and preparing for the future. To our beautiful and brilliant mom, we will always carry your memory and spirit in our hearts forever with love.
