Obituary
Martha Jane Burrell Covil, aka “Othermama”, passed away Sunday, May 21st, 2023. She was born August 24, 1926 to Clingman Poinsett and Rosa Lindsey Burrell. Martha was married to Ned Covil. She was a faithful and loyal wife to Ned up until his death in 2002. Her passion was her family, wolverine football, NC Basketball and going to lunch to see friends in the community. Sunday’s at the boathouse was her favorite time other than Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings and her granddaughter, Leah Justice.
She is survived by her five children, Vicky Justice (Ed), Ricky Covil (Debby), Joe Covil (Gigi), Debbie Collins (Keith) and Sherry Covil (Barry). She was Othermama to 11 grandchildren, Missy Fincher (Trey), Brandon Justice (Julie), Christie Morrow (Tim), Jordan Covil (Tiffany), Matthew Covil (Amanda), Justin Covil, Robert Tuttle (Kate), Jacob Covil, Casey Harris (Mason), and Dillon Tuttle. She also had 18 Great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023 at Tryon First Baptist Church in Tryon, NC with Dr. Jeff Harris officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC.
At all other times, family will be at the home.
Memorials may be made to the Tryon First Baptist Church Scholarship Fund.
