On November 6, 2022, our beloved Harriet Franklin was humbly escorted by the angel of God into the bosom of Christ, and she was welcomed by the host of heaven surrounded by the glory of God’s presence and everlasting joy; No more pain, no more sorrows, just joy, and everlasting love.

Harriet Franklin (nee Perryman), age 89, passed away at her mountainview home surrounded by her devoted family on November 6, 2022.

Harriet was born on September 6, 1933 to Bishop Mattie Lee Hanson and James Perryman in Albany, New York. After graduation, she relocated to Hartford, Connecticut, enrolled in a nursing program, and gained employment at Hartford Hospital. A few years later, she was attracted by the cosmopolitan lifestyle of New York City, where she was employed as an answering service secretary to the film industry and Broadway stars. Constantly reinventing herself, Harriet took courses at New York University and began a career as a staffing coordinator in the healthcare staffing industry A decade later, Harriet returned to Hartford, Connecticut., and formed her staffing agency, Superlative Home Care. She was responsible for starting the careers of many inner-city women. Harriet retired in 2000 and relocated to Bristol, Rhode Island. 

Harriet was a devoted mother and grandmother; she loved her family dearly and would travel wherever they were to spend quality time. In 2019, Harriet moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, to reside with her only child and daughter, Dorothi. Always the “Grand Dame,” her class, poise, intellect, and compassion will be greatly missed by all. 

Harriet was preceded in death by her mother and father, Bishop Mattie Lee Hanson and James Perryman, brother James Perryman (Anne), Dollie Siler, Julius Perryman, Zollie Campbell, Roosevelt Campbell, and Mary Thomas-Watkins. 

Harriet leaves to cherish her memory one loving daughter Dorothi Beteta & loving son-in-love Carlos, bonus daughter Crashauna, grandchildren Anthony “Tone,” Jamaal “Maal”, J’wana“Wana”, great grandchildren JaSaan & Jilani, Alexander “Tony” Campbell, Carolyn Hardy, best friend Barbara “Bobbie” Clark, Vivian Beteta & the Beteta family, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives many dear friends who will miss her dearly.
