Columbus, NC- Harold Thomas “Hal” Bright, 95 years old, son of the late William J.Bright and Lillian M. Bright, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021 at Tryon Estates. He was married to Dorothy Bright for 66 years, who passed away in 2017. Hal was also preceded in death by his three siblings; a son, David W. Bright; and a grandson, Timothy (Tim) D. Bright. He is survived by a son Tom Bright (Rickia) of Greer, SC; two daughters Karen Bright of Charleston, SC and Linda Yovetich (John) of Missoula, MT; grandchildren, Steven Bright (Haley) of Greer, SC, Nick Yovetich of Missoula, MT and Sarah Taylor (Eric) of Boise, ID and great-grandchildren, Lillian Bright, Harlan Bright and Stella Bright all of Greer, SC.
He was a graduate of Orange High School where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame; Kent State University where he was also a Delta Tau Delta member and MIT, the Sloan Program, Class of 1968. He received his B.S. and Masters degrees in both Business Administration and Accounting. Hal worked as a Vice President of GTE/Sylvania of the specialty electrical/wiring division and continued in the specialty electrical/wiring industry for most of his career. Hal was also a proud veteran of the US Army. An active Presbyterian, his latest was serving on several committees at Tryon Presbyterian Church, Tryon, NC where he was a member. His interests were sports, card games, and bowling, but Hal’s favorite past times were golf and his daily walks.
The funeral and interment will be a private family service at Warren County Memorial Park in Warren, Pennsylvania at a later date.
