TRYON – William Dickie Plumley, 76, of Tryon, passed away, Monday morning, May 9, 2022 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
Born in Polk County, he was the son of the late William Taft Plumley and Mamie Jones Plumley. Dickie and his father were caretakers at Valley Courts Motel in the Valley for many years. His later years, he worked for Stott’s Paving running a roller. Dickie was a people person having met no strangers and had many friends. He was a loving brother, uncle and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Plumley; a sister, Lucy Ann Plumley; one nephew, Michael Greene.
Surviving is one sister, Mossine P. Constance of Columbus; three nieces, Judy Hefner (Gary), Denise and Diane Constance. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022 in Polk Memorial Gardens with Reverend R. Sean McKaig officiating.
His body will lie in state Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
