BAT CAVE – David Eugene Lyda of Bat Cave went home to be with the Lord Saturday, September 19, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Asheville, he was the son of the late Charlie Grady Lyda and Nancy Justice Lyda. Mr. Lyda was a 1971 graduate of Reynolds High School and a graduate of Fruitland Bible Institute. For over 50 years, he worked with Bud Huntley as a Master Stone Mason. He was a former pastor of Barnwell Baptist Church in Edneyville and a 45-year member of Middle Fork Baptist Church in Bat Cave.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, two sisters, one son-in-law, and a niece.
Surviving are his loving wife, Pam Adams Lyda; children, Jennifer Gunter (Charles) of Edneyville, Julie Searcy (Billy) of Mill Spring, Jonathan Lyda (Kristen) of Bat Cave, Raymond Govern (Amanda) of Edneyville, Heidi Duncan (George) of Edneyville and Sundown Govern of Weatherford, TX; fifteen grandchildren, McCayla Hall, Morgan Hall, Bryce Gunter, Logan Gunter, KC Hairston, Jordan Searcy, Kendall Searcy, Reagan Govern, Dezi Govern, Kenzie Govern, Ryker Govern, Britlynn Govern, Joseph Messer, John Michael Crowe and Erica Crowe. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren and one brother, Samuel Paul Lyda (Miriam) of Asheville, NC.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. October 11, 2020 at Middle Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Randall Gilliam officiating.
A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
