Obituary

Saluda, NC—Daniel “Dan” Eugene McIe, 62, of Saluda, NC passed away at home on Friday, April 14, 2023.

Dan was the son of the late Delbert McIe and Peggy Carpenter.  Dan was a man of many talents, he loved playing his guitar, a gifted artist with a passion for drawing and a skillful woodworker that made beautiful furniture.  He was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Saluda, NC. 

Surviving is his wife of 35 years, Pennie Connor McIe; three daughters, Layla Fifer of Simpsonville, SC, Karla McIe of Saluda, NC and Brandy McIe of Saluda, NC; one son, Justin McIe, of Saluda, NC; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a sister, Sue Vacek, of New York; one brother, David McIe of South Carolina and one niece, Melissa Vacek, of New York.  Dan also leaves behind his “pup” Fancy.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Grace Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Curtis Pace officiating.
