MILL SPRING – Clarence Alvin McCraw, 79, of Mill Spring went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, September 3, 2022.
A native and lifelong resident of Polk County, he was the son of Clarence Cecil McCraw and Ruth Foy. Clarence was raised by his grandparents, Harley and Nellie Foy. Clarence worked at Stone Cutter for 17 years and then opened his own small engine repair shop at his home. He ran the shop until 2017 until he quit to take care of his wife Joyce.
The world revolved around his children, grandchildren, and great grandson. He loved working on small engines, playing with his grandkids and sharing ice cream with his great grandson.
Clarence was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce McCraw; two sisters, Vera Dobbins and Gladys Halford and four brothers, Frank Foy, Earl Foy, Harold Foy and Ray McCraw.
Surviving are his children, Monte McCraw (Rebecca); and Melissa Henderson (Keith); six grandchildren, Amanda Miller (Zack), McKenzie Conner (Austin), Luke Burton, Joshua Henderson, Davis Henderson and Hollis Henderson; one great grandson, Dawson Conner; three brothers Jesse Foy (Shirley), Fred Foy (Julie) and Carrol McCraw (Sandra); two sisters, Linda Cates (Joe) and Joyce McEntyre and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his dachshund dog of 15 years Penny.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, September 6, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Pastor Hubert Street and Pastor Sam Henderson officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery, Mill Spring.
At other times, the family will be at the home.
