Columbus, NC – Alan G. Blanchard, age 75, went to be with Jesus in his heavenly home on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Born in Concord, NH he was the son of Garald and Doris (Blanchard) and Robert Blodgett. Alan’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life, and he shared Christ’s love with everyone he met. He loved the Lord, his family, church, friends, and his country.

Alan served in the Army National Guard, entering on January 17, 1966 and Honorably Discharged on September 20, 1971 as Specialist Four Company C 242nd Combat Engineer Battalion (C) (A). He was a member of the Tryon NC American Legion where he proudly served as an Honor Guard. He couldn’t pass by a US flag without saluting.

Alan retired from Southern New England Telephone Co. in 1995, working as an architectural engineer for 30 years, and moved to Columbus, NC in 1996 with his beloved wife and daughter Heather. During his time living in NC, he was employed as a building inspector for Polk County NC, Henderson County NC, Charleston SC county, and SafeBuilt (working in SC and Atlanta, GA). While in NC, he enjoyed being an actor/extra for multiple television shows, including Homeland and in the movie Iron Man III. His last movie was “Walk Through The Valley” where he had multiple lines playing an attorney.
