Saluda, NC - William Gerald Thomsen, 60, of Saluda, NC, died Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.Mr. Thomsen was the son of the late Walter Russell Thomsen. He is survived by his mother Geraldine Nance. William attended Friendship Baptist Church, he was an exceptional musician and loved to record the sounds of nature. His daughter Shelia and her mother Jane Edwards were the light of his life. Surviving in addition to his mother is a son William Gerald Smith, a daughter Shelia Marie Thomsen, two sisters: Joy Larson (Larry), and Sandy Thiem, two brothers: Russ Thomsen (Polly) and Bud Thomsen (Lynn), and a special companion, Carol Stewart, also surviving are several special nieces and nephews.Mr. Thomsen was preceded in death by two sisters: Valerie Thomsen, and Karen Thomsen, a brother-in-law Donald Thiem, and a step-father Leroy Nance.Services will be held at a later date.
