- Former Congressman William Martin Hendon died Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC after a long illness. He was the son of the late John William Hendon and Mary Adams Hendon and brother of the late George Ward Hendon. He is survived by his daughters, Carrie O'Neil and Jennie Porter, and five grandchildren.A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
