Green Creek, NC - William Huey Fagan, 83, of Green Creek, NC died Friday, January 16, 2009 in White Oak Manor in Spartanburg, SC. Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Ida Cole Fagan. Mr. Fagan was the husband of the late Nell Blackwell Fagan who died in 2000. He retired from Greenwald's in Spartanburg, SC and worked for Southern Railway for ten years. Mr. Fagan was a member of Green Creek First Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School Superintendent for forty years and in many other capacities in the church. Surviving are one son, John H. Fagan (Kathy) of Boiling Springs, SC; a daughter-in-law, Norma Jean Fagan of Green Creek, NC; three grandchildren; Katherine F. Nations of Boiling Springs, SC, Larry Fagan, Jr. (Michelle) and Angela Painter (Danny) of Green Creek, NC. Also four great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by a son Larry Fagan who died in 2006. Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Monday, January 19, 2009 in the Green Creek First Baptist Church with Rev. Allen McKinney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family to receive friends from 3:00pm to 4:30pm Sunday afternoon in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. Body will be placed in the church at 1:30pm on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Mountain Area Office, 31 College Place, Suite D320, Asheville, NC 28801-2644.
