Columbus, N.C. - Virginia Frances Pierce Gantt, 92, of Blanton Street Ext., Columbus, NC died Monday, April 2, 2007 in White Oak Manor, Tryon, NC. Born in Wytheville, VA she was the daughter of the late William and Lula Belle Wilson Pierce. She was the widow of James W. Gantt who died in l977. A graduate of Brenau College, she retired from teaching at Western Carolina Center in Morganton, NC in l977. Mrs. Gantt was a member of the Columbus Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a son, Mike Gantt (Hazel) of Columbus, NC; two granddaughters, Dawn Benson (Kenneth) of Albany, GA and Jill Emery (Dr. Nathan) of Spartanburg, SC and 3 great-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be private. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 135 Forest Glen Dr., Columbus, NC 28722.
