Tryon, NC- Vestal Hoosack Kuykendall, 86, of Scriven Road, Tryon, NC died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in his residence. Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Celia Conner Kuykendall. He was a veteran of WWII, having served in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Kuykendall was a retired textile employee and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are: his wife of 67 years, Alice Styles Kuykendall of the home; one son, Ralph Kuykendall (Louella) of Landrum, SC; one daughter, Ann K. Teague of Roebuck, SC; a brother, Mack Kuykendall (Merica) of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters, Opal Edwards (John) of Columbus, NC and Ruby McCarter of Jackson, TN. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Marvin D. Kuykendall who died in 1972. Funeral Services will he held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 29, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Dr. Dennis Jones, Rev. John Parker, Rev. Andy Parker and Rev. Albert Teague officiating. Burial will be in Tryon City Cemetery. Family will receive friends just prior to the funeral service from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
