Vernon Raymond Leister, a longtime resident of Campobello and Tryon, died on July 30 in Brevard, NC.

Vernon was born on October 7, 1937, in Monaca, PA. He built a beautiful life for him, his wife Nancy and their three children. He enjoyed a successful and long career working for JCPenney’s. Vernon will be remembered for his good-hearted and kind character, his love for Pittsburgh and his love for dogs. Vernon made many dear friendships along the way and made the world a sweeter place.

He is survived by his three children: Jennifer lives in Murrells Inlet, SC, Charles lives in Greenville, SC and Connie lives in Brevard, NC. Jenny, his sweet dog, lives happily with his daughter in Brevard.

There will be a Celebration of Life in his honor on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Tryon.

Memorial contributions may be made in Vernon’s honor to the Foothills Humane Society.
