Thomas G. Teal, 96, died on Thursday morning Feb. 8, 2007.Tom was born in 1910 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Isabel and William Teal of Detroit, Michigan and brother of Viola Teal. Tom grew up in Detroit and attended the University of Detroit. He was a natural athlete and played many sports and coached high school basketball. He served in the Army during World War II in Europe and North Africa. After the war, Tom married Wini-fred Mur-ray, of Dearborn, Michigan, and raised their family of five children in Almont, Michigan. Tom worked for the Chrysler Corporation for 37 years before retiring and moving to Tryon.Tom was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Tryon Country Club. He was a devoted husband and father.He is survived by his wife, Winifred, and his five children, Kathleen, Patricia, Sharon, Thomas and Eileen. He has six grandsons.A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 180 Laurel Ave., Tryon.
