Landrum, SC -- Thomas Bernard Phillips, Jr., 71, of Landrum, SC, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at his home.Born in Greer, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Bernard and Evelyn Johnson Phillips. He was a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Textile Management. His career started with employment with Woodside Mills and continued with M. Lowenstein/Springs Industries for 26 years and completed his career with Perfect Fit Industries. He was a member of Tryon Presbyterian Church, Tryon, NC. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home. Two sons, Thomas Bernard Phillips, III of Sanford, FL, and John David Phillips of Oviedo, FL. One daughter, Laurie Saunders (Brent) of Melbourne, FL. One step-son, James Lassiter, (Cynthia) of Columbia, SC and three step-grandchildren, and two brothers, Ben Phillips (Judy) & William Dean Phillips (Joanne) both of Anderson, SC.Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2007 in Tryon Presbyterian Church, Tryon, NC with Dr. David R. Hosick officiating.Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Spartanburg, SC at 2:00 p.m. Friday.The family will be at the home.Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of S.C., 500 Taylor St., Suite 101, Columbia, SC 29201 or to the charity of your choice.
