Thomas Frank Owens, 68, of Little Mountain Road, Tryon, NC died unexpectedly Sunday, May 12,2024 at St Lukes Hospital, Columbus, NC.
A native of Polk County, NC, he was the son of Norris Owens of Green Creek and the late Lorraine Fenner Owens, who died in 2009. He was a graduate of Polk Central High School, class of 1974. He was a licensed electrical contractor and worked for Ivey Electrical, Davis Electrical and Integrated Electrical Services For 40 years as an electrical superintendent. He was a member of Pea Ridge Baptist and over the years had served in numerous capacities there.
Thomas was a diehard UNC Tarheel fan, and nothing made him happier than hunting and fishing with his many friends. But the love and joy of his life were his three grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Charlene Tucker Owens. A daughter Caitlin Owens (Billy) of Tryon, NC, and a son Sergeant First Class Ryan Owens (Antonella) of the US Army, currently stationed in Vicenza, Italy.
Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Granddaughters , Makenna and Lexi Praytor and a grandson, Tommaso (Tommy) Owens. A brother Walker Owens (Jeannie) of Charlotte, NC and a sister and brother-in-law, Bonna and William Conner of Mill Spring, NC
He was proceeded in death by a brother and sister, Richard, and Lisa Owens
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, May 17, 2024, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Dr Chris Osborn officiating.
Visitation will be 1:00-2:45 pm just prior to the service in the funeral chapel.
Burial will be private.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
