Thomas (Tommy) E. Manns Jr., 90 years old, joined Jesus in heaven on Saturday, April 15, 2017. He most recently lived at 3319 Heritage Drive, in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Born in Winters, Texas on September 12, 1926, he was the son of the late Thomas E. Manns Sr. and Inez Neill Manns. After graduating from Winters High School, Tommy joined the Navy and served as a radio man aboard The USS Telfair during WWII, taking the important message that the war had ended. Returning home in 1946, he married Eula Mae Sneed, his high school sweetheart. Tommy was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great grandfather.His professional career was spent in the trucking industry where he began in office management and sales, retiring as the President of Hunsaker Truck Leasing in Dallas Texas. Throughout his life, he served his local church and community as a Gideon, Deacon and Sunday School teacher. After retiring, he and his wife joined Volunteer Christian Builders and Texas Baptist Missions building and refurbishing churches, camps and schools across the country. Tommy and Mae enjoyed golfing, square dancing and traveling and he never ceased to help others.He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eula Mae Manns; his son, Ron Manns and wife Debbie of Abilene, Texas; his daughter, Ann Walker and husband Gil of Saluda, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Dawn Gee, Natalie Blakeley, Aaron Manns, Andy Manns and Amy Surko; 9 great grandchildren, 3 nieces and many good friends.Graveside services will be held at 10 am, on April 26, 2017, at Northview Cemetary in Winters, Texas.
