Mill Spring, NC—Steve Shehan, 76, of Mill Spring, NC passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024.
Steve was the son of the late Jesse and Mary Walker Shehan. Steve operated a gas station in Mill Spring, NC prior to enlisting in the Army. Steve proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, Steve returned to Polk County, NC. He worked for Jenning's Garage for a few years and then worked for Jackson's Towing for over 30 years until his retirement. Steve served as a volunteer firefighter for Mill Spring Fire Department, a member of Polk County Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard, and a member of the VFW Post 10349. Steve was a member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church.
Steve was the second to the youngest of 12 children and was preceded in death by all of his siblings: three brothers, Leo, Jessie Junior and JJ and eight sisters, Virgie, Pauline, Elma Louise, Martha, Ellen, Judith Ann, Betty Jewel, June, Peggy Jo and Mary Elizabeth.
Steve is survived by his loving wife, Lisha R. Shehan and pets, Butch and Kubuta. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2024 in the Mill Spring First Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Brian Wilson, Reverend Aaron Pruitt, and Reverend Joey Pitts officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Polk County Veteran's Memorial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends in the church prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
