Columbus, NC - Dr. Simon Vivian Ward, Jr., 92, of Laurel Lake Dr., Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC died Monday, August 11, 2008 in Tryon Estates Medical Facility in Columbus, NC.Born in Timmonsville, SC he was the son of the late Simon Vivian Ward, Sr. and Grace Bethea Ward. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Navy. Dr. Ward did his undergraduate studies at LSU and also graduated from LSU Medical School.He is survived by his wife, Sloan Hawkins Ward. Two sons, Simon Ward, III and his wife Sherry of Charlotte, NC; George L. H. Ward and his wife Ysonde of Pass Christian, MS. One daughter, Lisa Connors and her husband Kevin of Bronxville, NY. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren.Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in Tryon Presbyterian Church with Dr. James C. McPherson and Rev.
