Green Creek, NC --Shirley Elizabeth Hinsdale Shields, 91, of Green Creek, NC died June 2, 2007 in Chattanooga, TN. Born in Green Creek, NC, she was the daughter of the late Bennett Edwin Hinsdale, Sr. and Elizabeth Barnett Hinsdale. She was the widow of Grady Shields who died in 1983. She was a retired employee of Hatch Mill in Columbus, NC. Mrs. Shields was a member of Green Creek First Baptist Church in Green Creek, NC for 79 years. Surviving are one daughter, Jane Loudermilk (Tom) of Chattanooga, TN, one brother, Bennett Hinsdale, Jr. of Green Creek, NC. Five grandchildren Donald R. Shields, Tina Shields, Angel Simonds, John Loudermilk, and Christy Wooten. Also eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Donald Shields who died in 1980. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday, June 4, 2007 in Green Creek First Baptist Church with Dr. Donald R. McIntyre and Rev. Allen McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Green Creek First Baptist Church Cemetery. Family to receive friends from 6:30pm to 8:30pm Sunday night in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC.
