Obituary

Scott Andrew Martin, 40, of New London, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

He was the son of Frank and Brenda Martin of Columbus. Scott was a 2003 graduate of Polk County High School, where he was a member of the band. He loved playing guitar and was in a few rock bands in his 20's. He loved gold panning and was the inventor of Sluice Boss. Scott's further education includes engineering degrees from Greenville Technical College and the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg. His past employment includes various companies in the automotive industry for numerous years.

He was baptized at age 7 and spent most of his youth and teenage years in church. He recently came to know Jesus as his personal Savior. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his parents is his wife, Crystal Martin; one daughter, Vega Martin; one sister, Susan Krawczyk (Stephen); one brother, Alan Martin (Courtney); one niece, Kailey Arnold; four stepsons, Delaney Parris, Joshie Rose, Timmy Proctor and Charlee Proctor; Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at McFarland Funeral Chapel. A celebration of life will follow at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.

Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus.
