Obituary

Sam Pace broke on through to the other side on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital, with his beloved daughters holding his hands.Sam was born on June 19, 1952 and raised in the Valley of Tryon to parents Greenberry "Junior" Lotan and Myrtle Greene Pace. He graduated Tryon High School in 1970 and joined the U.S. Air Force shortly after. He served during Vietnam in Spain. He is survived by his two daughters, Jessica (Scott) Greve and Cristina Searcy and four grandchildren: Cameron, Noah and Elena Greve and Elijah Searcy. He is also survived by his brother, Phillip Pace, and aunts, uncles, cousins and a nephew. He loved motorcycles and fast cars. He was also an avid outdoorsman and loved his cat "Moxie."Always jovial and quick-witted, he was the life of the party and loved by the many friends he made his family and will be greatly missed by all.He wrote his own rules, he fought authority, and he paved his own way. And if you said he couldn't do it, he would make sure he would. He lived life to the fullest and woke up every morning and thanked God for each day.A memorial service will be on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at McFarland's Funeral Chapel in Tryon. Visitation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Foothills Humane Society, 989 Little Mtn. Rd., Columbus, NC 28722.
