TRYON, NC -- Ruby Owens Waters, 86, of Beaver Street, Tryon, NC passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC.Born in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Ella Pintuff Owens. And was the widow of Willie Waters who died in 1982. Mrs. Waters was an active member of Tryon Second Baptist Church where she was involved in many of the church ministries. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was known for her fried apple pies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Donald and Larry Waters and daughter, Mary Smith. Surviving are two sons, Ted Owens and wife, Elna of Columbus, NC, and Charles Waters of Tryon, NC; two daughters, Brenda Lewis and Polly White and husband, Billy both of Campobello, SC; one brother, Raymond "Pee Wee" Owens of Mill Spring, NC. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 2: 00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Albert Teague and Dr. Dennis Jones officiating.The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC.Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 76 McDonald Street, Tryon, NC 28782.
