Tryon, N.C. - Genelle Scoggins Rickenbacker, 83, of Second Street, Tryon, NC died Sunday, January 3, 2010 in White Oak Manor, Tryon, NC. A life long resident of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Earl and Eloise Foster Scoggins. She was the widow of Herbert Lee "Ace" Rickenbacker who died in 2001. Genelle retired from Alltel Phone Company, Tryon, NC in 1987. Mrs. Rickenbacker was a member of the Tryon United Methodist Church. Surviving is a daughter, Sally Ann Rickenbacker Swannie (Scott) of Charleston, SC and a brother, Carroll Scoggins (Emily Rose) of Tryon, NC. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Scoggins who died in 2004. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon NC with Dr. Neil Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel just prior to the service. The family will be at the home of a friend, Christine Glover, 64 Vista Terrace, Tryon, NC.
