Obituary

Rosemary Bishop Blackwell Devine passed away on April 15th, 2018 in Pensacola, FL. She was born in Saluda, NC, February 3, 1936. She is survived by her three children, Kim (Jim) Scott of Summerville, SC, John (Deborah) Blackwell of Pensacola, FL, & Pete (Debbie) Blackwell of Spokane, WA and sister Carolyn (Kenny) Bishop Hayes & brother Halford Bishop. Seven grandchildren & seven great-grandchildren also survive her. She lived most of her life in Spartanburg, SC, where she was an Intensive Care Unit nurse at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for 25 years. Over her lifetime, she enjoyed camping & loved her flower garden, in particular, her roses & peonies. She enjoyed nursing and for a short period taught college EMT classes. She was fond of Girl Scouts and routinely revisited her childhood days and scouting adventures. A long-time Christian, she enjoyed a lengthy visit to the Holy Land in 2009. A strong-willed & independent woman, she was proud and caring at the same time. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 5th at 1:00 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, 279 Friendship Church Rd, Saluda, NC 28773. Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Council, 8818 W Market St, Colfax, NC 27235.
