Glenn Conner was born April 11, 1957 to Jeanette and Bud Conner. He and his Brothers, Jeff, Larry, Charles( and cousins David and Mark) grew up together riding dirt bikes, fishing, and playing football in Columbus N.C. At 16 he met the love of his life, Cookie. After several years of romance (including introducing Cookie to her first slice of pizza, EVER!) They were blessed to raise three children: Jill , Patrick, and Lauren. Glenn and Cookie relocated to Rutherfordton in 1999 and have since been gifted with six precious grandchildren: Hayden, Logan, Autumn, Summer, Zoey, & Grayson. Glenn worked very hard, many hours, and drove long commutes to a job he loved at Henson's Inc. with coworkers he cherished to provide for his family which was the most important thing in the world to him. Glenn's idea of perfect leisure activities were cat fishing, grilling out in the backyard, play pool, and watching action movies. It is quite tragic that such a strong, smart, compassionate, extraordinary man had to leave just before his retirement years began. Glenn was a son, brother, husband, father, and above all else, a friend to anyone he ever met. His Family, and the community, have truly suffered a great loss as Glenn Conner joined his late sister Glenna Carol, his brother Larry, and his daddy Bud, to watch over us and are grieving hearts from heaven on Friday, November 4, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2016 in 2nd Baptist Church, 191 Green St., Rutherfordton, NC 28139 with Rev. Keith Stephenson officiating.The body will lay in state from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2016 in McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC.
