Columbus, N.C. - Robert "Bob" Frank Smith, 60, of Columbus, NC, died Monday, January 22, 2007, at his home. Born January 4, 1947 in Johnson City TN. He was a native of Polk County, the oldest son of Frank Smith of Columbus, NC and the late Virginia Sparks Smith. He was a US Air Force Veteran of Vietnam. Bob was a prior member of the Columbus Volunteer Fire Department and was a retired truck driver and construction worker.He was the husband of Lina Vance Smith, the father of two sons, Robert (Robby) Frank Smith Jr., and William Alonzo (Lonnie) Smith. He was the grandfather of Bryan Smith, and Virginia Elizabeth Smith. He was also the brother of Ronald (Ronnie) Smith, and James (Jimmy) Smith. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 25, 2007 at 2:00 in the Columbus Presbyterian Church, Columbus, NC with the Rev. Buren Blankenship and Rev. Billy Salyers officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC.The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills Hospice House, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
