Mill Spring, NC- Robert Philmore Smith, 87, of Silver Creek Road, Mill Spring, NC, died December 4, 2008 in his residence. Born in Ohio, he was the son of the late Buck and Jeanette Johnson Smith. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army. Mr. Smith was retired from the State of Ohio as a meat inspector after thirteen years of service. He moved to Polk County in 1989 coming from Arizona. Surviving is his wife of 33 years, June Dale Smith of the home; one daughter, Judy Reddix and husband William of Mill Spring, NC; one brother, Roy Smith of Elgin, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in Silver Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites provided by Polk County Memorial Burial Squad. The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday, December 7, 2008 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. in Silver Creek Baptist Church.
