Bob Oliver passed away, December 1, 2022 in Tryon, NC.  He was previously a resident of Blacksburg and Roanoke.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Jennings Oliver and Josephine Waldron Oliver and his first wife, Peggy Ramsey Oliver.Bob was a long-time member of Blacksburg United Methodist Church.  He was a 1953 graduate of William Fleming High School and a member of the Golden Colonels.  Bob graduated from VPI (Va. Tech) in 1957 with a degree in Architectural Engineering.  He was a retired Lt. Colonel with over twenty-one years in the Army and Army Reserve.  Bob worked for McDonnell Aircraft Corp. in St. Louis, MO for three years before returning to Roanoke in 1960 to join the A/E firm Hayes, Seay, Mattern and Mattern where he worked for twelve years.  Bob moved to Blacksburg in 1972 to join as a Structural Engineer and partner, the architectural/engineering firm of Mills and Obenchain formed by Bob Mills, a firm later to be known as Oliver, Webb, Pappas and Rhudy or OWPR and the firm from which Bob retired.Bob was a charter member of the Rotary Club of Blacksburg, served as the President in 1982 and had over 30 years of perfect attendance.  He is the recipient of several Paul Harris Fellow Awards and a William Skelton Fellow award.He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Hylton Oliver, and daughters, Lori Leigh Oliver and husband Kevin Reynolds of Columbus, NC, and Mary Beth Oliver and her husband, John Christman of State College, PA.A special thanks to Carol Walker and the many people and staff at Comfort Keepers.Friends will gather at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The service will be conducted by Dave Olund a Deacon of First Baptist Church in Roanoke.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Michael J.
