Robert Norris Head, 86, of Valdese passed away, Wednesday morning, February 26, 2020 at his home.Born in Spindale, he was the son of the late Robert Pinkney Head and Blanche Robbins Head. Mr. Head was a graduate of Tryon High School, Spartanburg Junior College and Wofford College on a scholarship. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958 and served one year in Japan. Mr. Head worked many years at Alba-Waldensian in Valdese as a Industrial Engineer. He was an avid gardener, woodcarver and outdoors man. Mr. Head was a member of Valdese First Baptist Church.Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Marie Harris Head; one son, John Head (Janice) of Valdese; three grandchildren,  Jennifer Harrill (Justin) of Newton, Jacob Head (Kenna Oliver) of Hudson and Katie Head (Tyler Angley) of Morganton; five great-grandchildren, Lili, Julianna, Silas, Blakely and Elijah Robert (soon to arrive).A private graveside service will be held in Polk Memorial Gardens.Memorials may be made to Burke County Hospice, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
