Robert "Gene" Ferguson, 78, of Columbus went home to be with the Lord, Saturday evening, June 19, 2021, at Smith Phayer Hospice House in Landrum.Born in Water Valley, MS, he was the son of the late Cecil Ferguson and Audra Few Ferguson. Gene had a talent of being able to do whatever he sought out to do. He has been very involved with Mission Programs in various churches. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Columbus. Gene was an avid Memphis Basketball fan.Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Joyce Gregory Ferguson; a half-brother, John Hardaway.A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Ridings Cemetery, Columbus with Pastor Nathan Deatrick officiating.Memorials may be made to Crossroads Baptist Church, 333 Fox Mountain Road, Columbus, North Carolina 28722.
