Columbus, NC - Robert George "Grambo" Boveri, 77,of 1061 W. Mills Street, Columbus NC, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, SC.Born in Lafayettte, IN, he was the son of the late George Louis and Clara Barbara Goetz Boveri. He was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School, class of l951 and Purdue University, School of Forestry, class of l955 and was a Veteran of the U. S. Army. His professional life was spent with State Farm Insurance where he was an adjuster for 35 years before retiring in 1995. He moved to Polk County in 1999 coming from Lafayette, IN. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Tryon, NC.Surviving are: two daughters, Lori Pickering (Bruce) of Columbus, NC and Lisa Grobowsky (Jay) of Tryon, NC; a brother, Donald Boveri (Winnie) of Granger, IN. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, Ciara Pickering, Bailey, Tyler and Sydney Grobowsky.A memorial mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 in the St. John's Catholic Church, Tryon, NC with Father Patrick Winslow officiating.Memorials may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, NY, NY 10004.
