Obituary

Richard “Rick” Gene Campbell, 68, passed away on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Carroll and Betty Jean Reid Campbell. Rick was a master carpenter and worked for Edney Construction for many years. He was incredibly talented in his craft, taking great pride in his work and leaving behind not just structures, but a legacy of skill, precision, and dedication.

Rick was known for his calm demeanor and steady presence. He had an easy way about him that made others feel comfortable, and he never took life too seriously. He could find humor in almost anything and had a laugh that was unmistakable and contagious. People simply loved being in his company — whether sharing stories, working alongside him, or sitting quietly together. His presence brought a sense of ease and lightness to those around him.

Above all, Rick was a devoted husband and an excellent father. The greatest joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Terri Owens Campbell.

Surviving are three daughters, Lindsey Koehle (Dylan), Brooke Russell (Matthew), and Cassidy Hull (Eddie); five grandchildren, Savannah, Avery, Emerson, Cooper, and Laney; and his brother, Ronnie Campbell (Deborah).

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at McFarland's Funeral Home in Tryon, officiated by Reverend Kevin Hicks.
