Columbus, N.C. - Richard George Gilcher, 95, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006 in Tryon Estates Medical Facility, Columbus, NC. Born in Bergen County, NJ, he was the son of the late George and Mary Hill Gilcher. He was married for 55 years to the late Marion Carruth Gilcher who died in l996. Mr. Gilcher was formerly of East Aurora, NY and had lived in Polk County for the past 14 years, where he was the weatherman for Tryon Estates. Surviving are: two daughters, Annette Ross of Newark, NY and Nancy Gilcher Anderson of Ann Arbor, MI; a sister, Annette Nordberg of Cromwell, CT and a very dear friend Alice Badenoch of Columbus, NC. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held 2:00 Friday, August 11, 2006 in the auditorium of Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC with Rev. Ralph Kuether officiating.
