Rebecca Polson, 63, died of cancer on Nov. 30, 2022.Becky's favorite Bible passage was Galatians 5:14-22, in which the Apostle Paul encourages people of faith to "love your neighbor as yourself" and describes the "fruits of the Spirit": love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Those were values she lived by.Becky was a smart businesswoman, a supportive wife, and the best mother. She raised children from her teen years to her late 40s, and then seamlessly embraced the role of loving and wise grandmother. She worked hard — both in her own grocery store and for others — until treatment made that impossible. She was a talented piano player and student of music; her preferred church pew was one where she could observe the pianist, often her close friend Ivy McLaurin.Becky leaves behind her devoted husband of 21 years, Chet Polson; three children, Chas Sisk (Cathy), Jonathan Parks (Eden) and Nicole Parks; five stepchildren, Jody Parks, Lindsey Jo Parks, Andrea Hegler, Lindsey Brigman (Keith) and Adam Polson; nine grandchildren, Bryant Parks, Savannah Haywood, Riley Polson, Bryce Polson, Caleb Hegler, Cai Sisk, Mei Sisk, Millie Parks and Charlotte Parks; and countless loved ones. She is preceded in death by her previous husband, Joe Parks; a sister, Rachel Woodbery; and her parents, Gloria and Ronald Woodbery.A memorial service will be held on Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Bennettsville.
