-Ralph O. Nesslinger, 87, of Columbus, NC passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Laurel Woods Assisted Living in Columbus, NC.Ralph was the son of the late Karl O. and Carla E. Hoffmeyer Nesslinger. Ralph earned his Bachelor's Degree from Duke University. After college, Ralph served in the United States Army serving during the Korean War. During his time in the Army, he received the Bronze Star. He worked for the Insurance Company of North America retiring in 1975. Mr. Nesslinger was an avid reader, loved traveling, motorcycle enthusiast and a member of S.A.R.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carlita Snygg.Surviving is one brother, Roland Nesslinger (Sylvia); three nieces, Martha Lee Nesslinger (Mark Bittner), Frederica Georgia and Diana Fisher (Don); one nephew, Karl A. Nesslinger (Victoria). Also surviving are numerous great nieces and nephews.No services are planned.Memorials may be made to the Lanier Library, 72 Chestnut Street, Tryon, NC 28782.
