Tryon, NC—Rachel Ann Mullins, 88, of Tryon, NC passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC.Rachel was born in Ohio to the late Friend Allen and Varra Cole Himes.  Her and her husband James retired to the Tryon area in the 1980's after his retirement.  Rachel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She loved spending time working in her flower beds and tending to her orchids.  Rachel was a member of Tryon United Methodist Church where at one time she served as the treasurer.Rachel was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, James Edward Mullins; two brothers, Friend Himes, Jr. and Theodore Himes, and one grandson, Rusty Boggs.Surviving are two sons, Michael Mullins (Marti) of Landrum, SC and Timothy James Mullins of Northwood, OH; four grandchildren, James Mullins (Kay), Rachel Mullins, Lance Boggs (Chrissy) and Benjamin Howard.  Also surviving are 8 great grandchildren.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Tryon United Methodist Church in Tryon, NC with Rev. Lynnette Sills officiating.
