Columbus, NC--Rachel Geneva Lanning, 79, of Columbus, NC passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.Rachel was the daughter of the late Arthur Edwin and Gladys Abernathy Lanning.  She was employed at Southern Alcon Label Mill for over 30 years and retired from Springs Mill in Lyman, SC.  Rachel was a member of Columbus Baptist Church and served in many capacities over the years including working the nursery, teaching Sunday School and volunteering in the Good Neighbor Store.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Vicki Lanning.Surviving are two brothers, Joe Lanning and Arthur Lanning (Ginny); nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nephews.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC.
