Percy "PJ" Darr passed away peacefully on March 7th at the age of 90 after a brief illness. Born in Asheville in a family of 10 children, he moved to Florida with his family when he was 9 years old. He spent his early years in Lake Worth, FL and joined the US Army Air Corps. in 1943 at the age of 17. After WWII he returned to Lake Worth and married Marilyn "Mimi" Sousa. Together, they had 4 children; Jarrett, Adrienne, Michael and Alison. He worked for many years as the manager of Salon of Music in Palm Beach. He then joined NY Life in Virginia, retiring as General Manager in 1981 and eventually settling in Tryon/Columbus. He was very active in volunteer work in this area. PJ was known to his family and friends as a hardworking, loving family man. His zest for life was contagious and he made all who knew him feel special.He is survived by his wife, Mimi, daughters, Adrienne and Alison, and his son, Michael. PJ and Mimi have 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolinas who provided compassionate and loving care in his final days.
