Peggy Lee Starkey Riddle, 69, of Saluda, NC, died February 8, 2020, at her home.  Born October 27, 1950, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Betty Wood Starkey of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Peggy is survived by her husband of 40 years, David Kenneth Riddle, their son Christopher Riddle (Ashley), daughter Emily Hultquist (Matt), grandson, Jack Thomas Hultquist, and Peggy's two sisters, Cathleen Armstrong (Ed) and Cindy McConnell (Tom). A life-long educator, with a Master's Degree in Gifted Education from the University of Georgia, Peggy's teaching career included public and private schools, as well as homeschooling. In all her teaching, Peggy is remembered for her enthusiasm, her organizational skills, and dedication to her students.  She also served as Director of Christian Education in the Tryon Congregational Church and Tryon United Methodist Church.  After retiring from Polk County Schools, she was instrumental in organizing children's ministry at Grace Foothills Church.  Peggy's unfailing love for the Lord and His Word led the way in over twenty-five years of working with children and teachers.For decades Peggy professed the desire to "be a part of something that brought people from darkness to light."  For her gifted middle school Language Arts students, it was the light of learning.  For the children in three churches, it was Jesus, the Light of the World.A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at McFarland Funeral Chapel, 54 McFarland Drive, Tryon, NC, 28782 with Pastor Scott Stewart officiating.  A reception will follow.In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Four Seasons Hospice, 221 N.
