Pauline Laughter, 91, of Tryon, NC passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at White Oak of Tryon.Born in Polk County, NC, Pauline was the daughter of the late Wylie Ellis Laughter and Janie Edwards Laughter.  In the 1940's, Pauline worked for Ron Mosseller hooking rugs and in the 1950's, she went to work as a seamstress at the hosiery mill in Saluda, NC.  She later worked as a secretary until her mother's health declined and she devoted her time to caring for her. Pauline was a devout Christian, attending Friendship Baptist Church in Saluda, NC during her younger years and later attended Balfour Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC.  Pauline never had children of her own, but lovingly took care of her nieces and nephews.Pauline was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Wylie Laughter, Georgia Guice, Ralph Laughter, Bessie Parris, Myrtle Stamey, Lois Case, Fred Laughter, Jessie Newman, and Mary Jo Kelly.Surviving are many nieces and nephews.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Saluda, NC with Reverend Henry Vegter officiating.Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
