COLUMBUS, NC -- Pauline Smith Gosnell, 90, died Monday, February 18, 2008 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.A native of Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Minnie C. Smith and the widow of Harvey C. Gosnell who died in 2001. Mrs. Gosnell was retired from the U. S. Postal Service, and had resided at Rose Crest Assisted Living facility in Inman for the past four years. She was a member of Columbus Baptist Church.She is survived by a sister, Blanche S. Greene of Landrum, SC, twin brother, Paul T. and brother Horace A. Smith both of Columbus, NC and twelve nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Pat who died in 1963; her sister Mary S. Lancaster and brothers Ralph, Clarence, and Cecil Smith.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC.The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr., Columbus, NC 28722 or to Columbus Baptist Church, P.
