COLUMBUS, NC -- Paul Eric Nielsen, 89, of Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC died Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Tryon Estates Medical Facility.Born in Denmark, he was the son of the late Niels and Anna Christiansen Nielsen. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the US Army Air Corp. He was a navigator in the Army Air Corp and stationed in England during WW II. Mr. Nielsen was a member of the 8th Air force Historical Society. Mr. Nielsen was the widower of Theodora Carlyn Nielsen who died in 2006.Surviving is his daughter, Karla R. Nielsen of Bristol, RI.No local services are planned.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
