Obituary

Patricia "Patsy" Silvey Williams passed away peacefully at her home in Greer, SC surrounded by her family on September 17, 2025. She was 83 years old.

Born March 30, 1942, in Arcadia, SC as the daughter of the late Nellie Lou Silvey and Rufus Webster Silvey, she was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Donald "Don" Eugene Williams; Sisters, Betty Silvey Brooks and Francis Silvey Daniel; Brothers, RC Silvey, Robert Silvey, Edward Silvey, Bobby Silvey, Donald Silvey, Cecil Silvey, and  Kenny Silvey.

Patsy was born the eighth of twelve children and lived in Arcadia, SC throughout her childhood.  She attended and graduated from Fairforest High School in 1960. After graduation, she began working at Fowler Brothers Cleaners for many years and was working at Fairforest Finishing Plant when she met and married the love of her life, Don, on November 15, 1968.  Patsy enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to Donnie for many of his school years, but when she re-entered the work force, Patsy worked at the Polk County Courthouse at the Register of Deeds and later worked at the Spartanburg County Courthouse in administration to the Clerk of Court until she retired in 2014.

Patsy attended Arcadia First Baptist Church growing up and was a member of Columbus (NC) First Baptist Church for many years.  She loved Jesus and was deeply devoted to church as she served nearly 50 years teaching, leading, and serving in ministry.  She taught Sunday School to all ages but especially loved her time in children's ministry.  She was in involved in Acteens, GAs, AWANA, women's ministry, and serving on various committees.

A woman grounded in faith, a faithful wife, a devoted mother, a loving daughter and sister, grandmother, a constant friend, Patsy was loved by so many.  Her sharp mind, quick wit, strong work ethic, desire to make others laugh, and servant's heart defined Patsy. Giving gifts was a spiritual gift for her.  She was always thinking of others, whether she was sending a card, or buying a favorite candy bar or trinket, she enjoyed seeing the blessing of a smile on someone's face by her gift.  Not a rich woman by the world's standards but richly blessed in the things that mattered.

Surviving is her son, Donnie Williams (Kristi) of Greer, SC; her grandchildren and the joys of her life, Lauren Williams of Greenville, SC, Jordan Howell (Jack) of Simpsonville, SC, Madison Williams of Greenville, SC and Braden Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC; bonus granddaughter, Haleigh Gallimore of Myrtle Beach, SC; like a son, her nephew Matthew Strawbridge (Amy) of Polk County, NC; like a daughter, her niece, Dale Cook (Clarence) of Jonesville, SC; sisters Sherry Price of Mill Spring, NC and Jan Huntley of Spartanburg, SC.  Patsy loved her family dearly and had many close nieces and nephews that she admired and adored.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday,  September 19, 2025, at 4:00 pm at Arcadia First Baptist Church, 241 Spring Street, Arcadia, SC.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
