Obituary

Columbus, N.C. - Otis Charlie Feagan, 86, of Weaver Mill Road, Columbus, NC, died Friday, February 16, 2007 in Ridgerest Nursing Center, Columbus, NC. A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Otis Chesterfield and Mossie Sue Hampton Feagan. He attended Stearns School in Columbus, NC and was a retired, self-employed contractor. Charlie was active in the Polk County Democratic Party, served on the Polk County Election Board, member of the Columbus ABC Board, member of Horse Creek Masonic Lodge # 719, former Columbus Volunteer Fireman, and was active on many other civic organizations and community activities. He was a member of the Columbus Baptist Church, Columbus, NC where he was a longtime member having served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and Superintendant. Surviving are: his wife of 65 years, Catherine Walker Feagan; two sons, Charles Patrick Feagan (Mary) and Phillip Ray Feagan (Joan) both of Columbus, NC; and a sister, Lucille Christopher of Columbus, NC. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Michael R. Feagan, C. Mark Feagan, Melissa F. Callahan, Charles W. Feagan, Anna E. Feagan, Phillip H. Feagan, and Alice C. Feagan. Also five great-grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by a son, Gary Michael Feagan who died in 2001. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, February 19, 2007 in the Columbus Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl E. Maxwell and Rev. Robert Capps officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. Family to receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm Sunday, February 18, 2007 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. Family will be at the home of a son, Phillip & Joan Feagan, 510 Skyuka Rd., Columbus, NC 28722. Memorials may be made to the Gary Feagan Scholarship Fund at Columbus Baptist Church, P.O. Box 485, or to the Polk County Democratic Party, P.O. Box 602, both in Columbus, NC 28722.
