Norva Gardner Greenway, 99, of Spartanburg, SC, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the Rainey Hospice House, Anderson, SC.Born in Tampa, FL on May 3, 1923, Norva was the daughter of the late Zebulon Clifton Gardner and Annie Mae Mull Gardner and lived the majority of her life in Fayetteville, NC and Spartanburg, SC. She attended Meredith College as an art major and was bookkeeper for her husband's motorcycle, bicycle, and locksmith businesses. For many years, she served as coordinator of the Clothes Closet and president of the Lydia Sunday School class at First Baptist Spartanburg. She delivered for Mobile Meals and also served as a volunteer literacy and English instructor for Aware Literacy Council of Spartanburg.Surviving are daughter, Michalann Greenway Evatt (Mike) of Liberty SC, and six grandchildren including Madelyn Evatt, Tate Evatt, Sam Greenway (III), Randy Greenway, Sandra Naylor, Gary Greenway (Jr.), and four great grandchildren. She is also survived by stepson, Steve Greenway (Bette) of Pilot Mountain, NC. She is predeceased by husband, Samuel Watson Greenway, Sr.; two sons, Watson Greenway and Gary Greenway; and four siblings including Cecelia Godwin, Mary Walters, Becky Mabry, and Zeb Gardner.The family thanks the caring and compassionate staff at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC who not only provided end of life care but developed friendships with her and the family over the last five months. The family also thanks Rev. Sal Barone, Minister of Senior Adults and Pastoral Ministries, First Baptist Spartanburg, for the calls and visits over many years.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00 am in the courtyard at the Hospice of the Upstate, Anderson, SC with Chaplain Deon Louw officiating. In the event of rain, the service will be held in Rose Hall at the Hospice of the Upstate.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norva's memory to any of the following near and dear to her heart including Miracle Hill Ministries of South Carolina, Samaritan's Purse International Relief, and Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson, SC.
