TRYON, NC -- Nettie Louise Chapman Morton, 89, of Tryon, NC died Thursday, August 28, 2008 in White Oak Manor in Tryon, NC.Born in Pickens, SC, she was the daughter of the Martan and Darthula Whitmire Chapman. Mrs. Morton was a member of Columbus Methodist Church where she was in many Methodist Organizations and was also a member of Woodman of the World. She was the widow of Rev. Lawrence Morton, Sr. who died in 1997.Surviving is one son, Lawrence Morton, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Chelmsford, MA. Also 2 grandchildren, Heidi Diaz of Lowell, MA and Heather Rathke and her husband Kenneth of North Granby, CT and 6 great-grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC with Rev. Rob Parsons officiating.Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, NC.The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
