Obituary

Tryon, NC - Natalie Alice Lauritano Wassong, of Foxwood Drive, Tryon, NC died Monday, March 05, 2007 in St. Luke's hospital in Columbus, NC. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Amedeo and Natalie Ferazzi Lauritano of Manhattan, NY. As a graduate of Rosemont College and Fordham University she held positions with the Council of Foreign Relations, the New York Review of books, DFS Advertising, Johnson & Johnson and retired as Marketing Director of Clairol hair coloring division of Bristol Myers Co. Natalie was a most beloved and special woman cherished by all who knew her for her commitment to friends, family and community. She served on the board of St. Luke's Hospital, was past president of FETA, and was active in a variety of community programs and projects including Steps to Hope, PAC, FENCE, Hospice and Green Blades Garden Club. She will remain in our hearts always. Surviving are her husband Larry Wassong, one sister, Lois Lauritano and devoted nephews, Fletcher and John Daly. Adoring Aunt of Emma Grace, Elizabeth Rose and Fletcher Quinn Daly. Also a loving stepson Kevin Wassong and stepdaughter Karen Hios. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 8, 2007 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Father Patrick Winslow and Rev. Joe Emery officiating. A reception to celebrate Natalie's life will immediately follow in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: St. Luke's Hospital, 101 Hospital Drive, or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, or to Steps to Hope, 60 Ward Street, all in Columbus, NC 28722.
